An advice for the job seeker

Assalamualaikum Job-seeker,

I'm reading an interesting post by a Bruneian youth di songketalliance.com titled: Trying to get employed in this economy which basically narrate the writer's struggle of getting a more "stable" job after graduation and ended up working as an over-qualified barista with a "low-paid" income.

I can relate to the writer's experience pasal aku pun dulu macam atu jua; bertukar-tukar keraja kedai while applying job vacancies in both government and private sectors.

Kalau biskita kuat hati untuk job-hunting as soon as graduation, my advice is this:
Just grab any kraja yang ada!

Advantage of kraja sementara:

  • Biskita will get a real work experience.
  • Dapat belajar new skills dari tempat keraja.
  • Kalau sekiranya gaji yang diterima atu cukup-cukup untuk menampung keperluan diri, then you will help yourself by becoming more independent/ inda terlampau mengharapkan pocket money dari parents.
  • Kalau sekiranya ada labih dari bekeraja, apa salahnya tolong parents sikit-sikit e.g. bali minyak makan, bali ayam, bali beras. Just one item a month pun In Sha Allah memadai and I believe kenyang jua orang di rumah.

It might feel a bit embarrassing and somewhat kraja yang ditawarkan inda sesuai dengan qualification a.k.a. over-qualification. It's normal to have these kind of feelings. Tapi just imagined if biskita me-reject a $400 monthly income job semata-mata pasal atu bukan gaji $2K yang diharapkan sebab ada degree. Then, 2-3 bulan berlalu and you are still jobless. Kan atu sama macam membuang masa and rezeki?

At least, if you accepted the $400-job, you've earned something. Likewise if you perform well, you might get an increment from your boss jua.

I understand that you feel like you deserved a better job than yang sedia ada, ambil saja keraja sementara atu dulu sambil mencari peluang pekerjaan yang lebih baik. At least biskita inda jobless while looking for another job.

Remember, the most successful person start from scratch. So, change the mindset first to become a worthy person.

Anyway, I applaud the writer for her willingness to ambil kraja yang sementara and her kesabaran and ketabahan bekeraja as a barista. I prayed that she (and any job-seeker who read this post) will get a permanent job soon...Aamiin Ya Rabb.
